Why This Course Matters
Healthcare Funded Deliberately
Structure a post-retirement healthcare fund, covering contribution design, reserving and governance, so medical costs in retirement are met from a plan rather than from a member's capital.
A Strategy Review With Teeth
Run an annual scheme strategy review and board self-assessment that produces decisions rather than a document, closing out last year's commitments before setting this year's.
Outlook Turned Into Decisions
Translate the economic and asset class outlook into specific contribution, allocation and benefit decisions for the year, with the assumptions written down so they can be tested later.
Programme
09:00
Post-retirement healthcare fund structuring and reserving
You will design a post-retirement healthcare fund, working through contribution levels, the reserving basis, benefit design and the governance it requires, so medical costs in retirement are met from a funded plan rather than from a member's capital. Sessions cover cost trend assumptions, pooled versus individual cover, and the disclosures members need before they rely on it.
11:30
Wealth preservation and decumulation strategy
You will compare decumulation strategies for retired members, testing how withdrawal rates, inflation and longevity interact across a twenty-year retirement, and identifying where preservation and income objectives genuinely conflict. You leave with withdrawal guidance your scheme can give members without straying into personal financial advice.
14:00
Annual strategy review, self-assessment and the year ahead
You will run a strategy review against last year's commitments, complete a board self-assessment, and translate the regional economic outlook into specific contribution, allocation and benefit decisions with the assumptions written down. The day closes with the year's strategy paper defended before an expert panel.
