About This Event

“Plan the next banknote series with the data, peers and lessons on the table.”

A biennial hybrid forum for central bank treasurers and currency leaders. You will compare experience on banknote series and redesign, cash-demand trends in a digitising economy, coin circulation and cash processing, and leave with practical ideas from peers who are facing the same decisions on cost, security and public trust.

What You'll Explore

Lessons from recent banknote series launches across the region

Peer benchmarks on cash-processing cost and denomination mix

A view of cash-demand trends as digital payment use grows

Options for coin strategy and low-denomination rationalisation

A priority list for your treasury's next two years of planning

Who Should Attend

Open to all qualifying staff, particularly: Central Bank Treasurers, Currency Directors, Heads of Banknote Design and Issue, Cash Processing Managers, Coin Management Staff.

Why This Course Matters

Peer Exchange

Treasurers across the region face the same questions on redesign, security features and cash use. Comparing notes with peers shortens your learning curve and helps you avoid mistakes others have already made.

Cash-Demand Clarity

Digital payments are changing how much cash people use, but not evenly across regions or denominations. Reading those trends correctly keeps printing orders, inventories and costs in line with real demand.

Secure, Trusted Currency

A new banknote series is a decade-long commitment on security, cost and public acceptance. Sound planning means the notes resist counterfeiting and the launch builds, rather than tests, public trust.

Programme

Day 1

Banknote series, redesign & security features

You will review how central banks plan a new banknote series, from security features and substrate choice to public consultation, launch campaigns and withdrawal of the old series.

Day 2

Cash-demand trends & coin circulation

You will analyse cash-demand trends as digital payments grow, compare denomination mix and coin strategy, and discuss when rationalising low-value coins or notes makes economic sense.

Day 3

Cash processing, cost & the future of cash

You will compare cash-processing models and cost benchmarks across participating central banks, then draw together a set of priorities for your treasury's next two years of currency planning.

Standards & Faculty Benchmark

ISO 14298 Security Printing Management

The management-system standard for security printing, relevant to banknote supply and production.

Eurosystem Banknote Recycling Framework

A widely used reference for recirculation of banknotes by banks and cash handlers.

These references shape how banknote suppliers and cash-industry partners are held to account on security and handling. Discussing your plans against them means your printer contracts, recirculation rules and processing standards sit on a basis peers and suppliers recognise.

Is This Right for You?

  • ☑You lead or plan currency issue or central bank treasury work
  • ☑Your institution is considering a new banknote series
  • ☑You want peer benchmarks on cash cost and cash demand

Good to Know

Delivered in hybrid format, so colleagues can join online or in person. Pitched at senior practitioners who manage currency issue or treasury operations. You leave with peer benchmarks, lessons from recent redesigns and a set of priorities for your own currency plan.

The Bottom Line

Go home with the peer evidence and practical lessons to plan your next banknote and coin decisions with confidence.
